About Us

Neon Skates was born in 2010 in Montreal and expanded quickly to Ottawa in 2012 from a love of roller derby and a need for an expert store to support this technical and ever growing sport in Canada.  There is no question that the values of the sport of roller derby shaped Neon Skates' evolution and the way we serve our customers.  These values are:

These Roller Derby values gave Owner Mel Tayler the courage and drive to leave a 12 year high tech career to run Neon Skates. It's also what keeps her learning to grow the shop expertise and teach skaters recreational, park and dance skating. Offering amazing products and instruction, our mission is to help everyone find the activity they love on roller skates.

It's not just lip service, or a gimmick. We are skate experts that spend our time staying on top of what's new in the ever changing world of roller skates. We travel to manufacturers and events to learn the science behind the marketing so you get the straight story and our honest opinion.
