Should you get a Septic Inspection?
Replacing septic systems is very costly. You don’t want to discover a few years after you purchase your home that the septic system needs replacement. If you are purchasing a home with a septic system that is not new, a full septic inspection will provide you with an accurate assessment of the state of the waste management system. Foundation and Up Home Inspections was the experience and know-how to assess the condition of the septic system accurately, giving you the peace of mind, or knowledge you need in a purchase.

In most cases a septic inspection is not included in the scope of work of a general home inspection, at Foundation & Up this service is generally offered separately an additional cost. As a result, we recommend doing a general home inspection first. If the home them meets your needs, then a septic inspection can be conducted. Of course, if preferred, they can both be done at the same time.

A septic inspection includes:
- a visual inspection of the accessible areas of the interior of the septic tank
- a visual and intrusive inspection of the field bed as required
- water absorption test of the drainage bed
- inspection of the home’s interior wastewater system
- distances from site features
For more information on septic systems and inspections please feel free to contact us. or visit the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association.
Please note that Septic Inspections are done in addition to a Home Inspection.
Septic Inspections are not done independently of a Home Inspection.
