Pallets have many names (wood packaging material, WPM, skids, containers, boxes, crates, baskets, buckets, export packaging, cases, cooperage, shipping drums, NAICS 32192, etc) and are made from a variety of materials (solid wood, plastic, corrugated, wood veneer, aluminum, metal, etc). The mission of palletsCAN is to explain the benefits of a wide range of packaging platforms, to ensure that Canada's transportation and export sectors make the optimal selection, and to assist pallet manufacturers to source the supplies which they need to meet demand from domestic and foreign customers. palletsCAN is involved in the ISPM-15 certification program to ensure that all wood packaging material used to export goods from Canada (including new 2015 rules for shipments to the United States) are met. Among the services to be offered: certification under Sustainable Forestry Initiative; insurance programs for WPM facilities; provision of detailed data on the export / import of NAICS 32192 units; wholesale of a range of support materials; etc. palletsCAN will be launched in 2015.
